The Villa - La Sugherosa

La Sugherosa is a luxurious villa on the Tuscan seaside facing the Elba island.

It was built by my parents, who set foot in Punta Ala for the first time in 1972. The first house that they bought started soon to become  small, so they bought some land on the hills and built La Sugherosa from scratch in 1983.

La Sugherosa literally means "made of cork"; that was the name of the first house, whose walls were all covered by a layer of cork; so when they moved to the second house, they called it La Sugherosa 2, and used some cork to cover the walls of the upper floor.

The villa is made of two different and completely independent apartments, one on the upper floor, where I live when I'm there, and one on the lower floor, for rental; the lower apartment can comfortably host 6 people (2 double beds and 2 single beds are available); for larger groups, a sofa bed in the living room can be used to host 2 more people.

Every room has its own bathroom with shower (and in case you love longs, cozy baths, there is a bathtub too).

Dogs are welcome; while you're in the house you can use the bowls and the beds of my dogs (Cisco and Audrey, two dobermanns); I think they won't mind too much. The garden is completely enclosed with a fence, so you can set your dogs free to roam.

Please be informed that the house has NO air conditioning; the house is naturally fresh and I've never felt the need to install it.

The ID Code of La Sugherosa, according to art. 13 quater, co. 4, L. 58/2019 is 053006LTN1074.

How to reach us

Coming from Pisa, heading to Grosseto, you will find a crossroad in Pian d'Alma with a road sign for Punta Ala; turn right and go on for 7 km.

When you get to the roundabout, take the second exit and then go on keeping the right lane.

Go on until the turning for Poggio alle Mandrie and turn left; have a glance at the beautiful 14th hole of the golf course and go on.

When you get to the only crossroad in Via di Poggio alle Mandrie, take the mandatory turn to the right and go on until you get to the Villa.
